These are adults who participated in a study conducted at Kangbuk Samsung Hospital. The average of the participants was 41 years, and 33% were women.

The participants underwent comprehensive biennial and annual exams. The test included quality, duration and measurements of insulin, HbA1c, glucose and high sensitive C-reactive protein. Diabetes was an HbA1c of 6.5% and above or involve use of medications such as anti-diabetes. Proportional hazards models were used to study the connection between risks of progression of prediabetes and sleep duration. The proportional hazards models were time dependent.
