Resistance Training May Benefit Multiple Sclerosis, Study Finds

Physical activity appears to carry benefit in brain function

There are already other studies that have shown similar brain benefits in healthy elderly patients who exercise. One study found that 12 months of regular resistance training, performed twice weekly, resulted in improved cognition in healthy, elderly populations. Another study found similar results in healthy, elderly people who regularly underwent endurance training. Not only was cognition apparently improved, but so was the actual volume of brain tissue. The benefit was most pronounced when exercise regimens were continued for over 6 months.
