Using Radio Energy to Eliminate Arthritis Pain

How does this work in the brain?

How does this work in the brain?

The physician will insert some needles with water-cooled electrodes into the three different nerves that send pain signals to the brain. The radiofrequency transports the cooled electrodes to the nerves, and heats the nerve at the same time. This heating disrupts and hinders the nerves ability to send pain signals to the brain for an extended period of time. Because the treatment uses the water-cooled electrodes, they are not only able to target a larger area of the knee, but they are able to keep the pain away for longer periods of time as well. Eventually, the nerves will resume sending pain signals, but not for several months.
