What Does Being a Hero Mean to Someone with Cystic Fibrosis?

Compliment uniqueness

Instead of calling someone with cystic fibrosis a hero, you can try to use other compliments to lift their spirits. Try to focus on things that they have actually done or something that sets them apart from everyone else. For example, if they like to clown around and joke, tell them that they said something really funny the other day. If they have a blog, compliment their article and share your thoughts about it. Or, simply just lend a listening ear. Just hearing them tell their story without judgment can be an invaluable way to make them feel comforted and not alone.
