Weight Gain May Prolong Protection From Worsening Symptoms Among Cystic Fibrosis Patients

How much should cystic fibrosis patients eat?

To maintain current weight, women with CF usually need to consume about 2,500 calories. To gain weight, this number is around 3,000. For men, maintaining weight is approximately 3,000 calories, while gaining weight is about 3,700.

However, it's not just about how much you can eat, but the quality. If cystic fibrosis patients don't eat enough fat or take sufficient enzymes in order to digest that fat, they will not be able to profit from the fat-soluble vitamins.
