A+D Topical is a topical form of treatment for dry, scaly, rough and itchy skin. It is also used to treat minor skin irritations such as skin burns and diaper rash. This product contains Vitamins A and D and lanolin which serve as emollients or moisturizers that soften and moisturize the skin and decrease itching and flaking. They also protect the skin against irritation.

A+D Topical is available as an ointment and as a cream.

Instructions

Use A+D Topical as directed by your healthcare provider. You should be able to follow the directions in the product package. If you have any questions about how to use this product, you may consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Check the product label if it needs priming or not. The frequency of application will depend on your doctor’s discretion and on the condition of your skin. If you are to use this product for dry hands, you should use this product every time you wash your hands and you should apply it throughout the day.

In cases of diaper rash, you should clean the diaper area first before use. Dry the area to be treated first before you apply this product. If this product is to be used to treat skin burns resulting from radiation, consult your radiation personnel first if this can safely be applied before radiation therapy.

This product is for external use only. Avoid areas such as:

  • Eyes
  • Mouth
  • Nose
  • Genital areas
  • Mucous membranes

Do not apply to broken irritated or wounded skin.

Some healthcare providers advise that this product be applied after bathing or showering while the skin is damp. Follow the instructions of your health care provider as you use this product. If your condition worsens or does not resolve after the prescribed period of use, seek medical help immediately.

You should be able to use this product regularly to benefit from it. In cases when you miss a dose, reapply it as directed.

Interactions

Your doctor or pharmacist will be able to explain possible drug interactions occurring with this product. Tell your health care providers about other medications and other skin care products you may be using while you are using this product.
