Benzamycin Pak, is a product used in the treatment of acne.

This medications is a combination of two products – Erythromycin, which is causing the growth-process of the acne-causing bacteria to stop, and Benzoyl Peroxide, which also causes the growth-process of the acne-causing bacteria to stop, and also causes the top layer of skin to dry and fall off, so that a new layer of skin to be formed. Alcohol is also present in this product, causing the extra oils from the skin to dry.

2 What to Know Before Using

Before using Benzamycin Pak, you must know all about the risks and complications associated with it.

You need to get informed about the potential beneficial effects of this product as well as of the potential risks and side effects. While consulting your doctor, make sure to inform him about:

3 Proper Usage

To use Benzamycin Pak correctly, you must follow all instructions given by your doctor.

This product is in the form of gel. It should be only used on the skin, and it mustn’t be used around the mouth, eyes, nose, or other mucous membranes. Get directions on how to apply the product properly. Because this medication contains two products, in the packaging there may be two individual compartments present. Before use you need to mix this two compartments together. Before you start applying the medication, it is very important to:

  • Wash your hands with warm water and soap. This is also needed after the applying is finished.
  • The washing with warm water and soap it is also required for the areas which will be treated with the medicine.

Apply the gel on the affected area, covering the whole area, not just the pimples. Avoid touching and washing the covered areas after the applying is finished. The doctor will determine the needed dosage based on your condition and the response to the treatment. The usual dose is twice daily, often applied in the morning and at night. Remember to use the medication regularly. If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. Do not double the dose. This medicine could be dangerous if it is swallowed. If this happens, contact your doctor right away.

4 Precautions to Take

In using Benzamycin Pak, you must be careful and take some precautions as advised by your doctor.

Visit your doctor at your scheduled appointments so that the doctor can track the prognosis of your condition. The doctor may decide to discontinue the treatment or make some adjustments to the dosage. Make sure you inform your doctor about any allergic reactions to any medications in the past.

This is important because this product may contain inactive substances that could cause an allergic reaction. Using this product may increase the sensitivity to the sun, because of this it is very important to apply sun cream with protective factor before you expose yourself to the sun, and also wear protective clothing. Because there are no studies which confirm if this product is safe to be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding, it should be only used in cases when the potential beneficial effects outweigh the potential risks.

Using make up during the treatment could make your acne worse. Avoid using make up during the treatment, or if needed, you should only use oil-free make up.

5 Potential Side Effects

As with many medications, there are several potential side effects associated with Benzamycin Pak. The side effects do not occur within every patient, also they could be mild or serious. It is important to get informed about the potential side effects and risks from your doctor. That way, you will be able to notice their presence and inform the doctor as soon as possible.
