FUDR is a drug used in the treatment of gastrointestinal adenocarcinoma metastatic to the liver. This drug is available as a lyophilized injection powder containing floxuridine 500 milligrams in 5 milliliter.

Interactions

FUDR may interact with medications such as:

  • Drugs that may decrease bone marrow function such as azathioprine or trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole
  • Past or present use of alkylating-type cancer drugs such as chlorambucil, cyclophosphamide or melphalan

Side Effects

There are no side effects known aside from a possible allergic reaction in people who have previous or unknown hypersensitivity to the drug.

Watch out for signs of allergic reactions such as:

  • Rash
  • Itching
  • Swelling

Warnings

Before taking this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have the following:

  • Allergy to floxuridine
  • Poor nutrition
  • Decreased bone marrow function or blood cell disorders such as anemia, leukopenia or thrombocytopenia
  • A serious infection
  • Liver problems
  • Kidney problems
  • Past high-dose radiation treatment of the pelvis
  • Pregnancy or lactation
