Gynazole-1 is a vaginal cream used in the treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis (infections caused by Candida). This drug is available as a cream containing butoconazole nitrate 20 milligrams in 1 gram.

Your dosage is based on your medical condition and the way you will respond to treatment. Take this drug regularly to experience the most benefits. You should also use this drug at the same time each day.
This drug is to be applied to the vagina. Avoid using it in the face, groin, or underarms, or for diaper rash, unless told so by your doctor. In using this, the applicator containing the medication should be inserted into the vagina as far as it can go. Slowly press the plunger to apply the full dose of the cream. Do not use douches or tampons when using this drug.
Wash your hands after use. Avoid contact with eyes or mouth. If contact occurs, rinse with plenty of water.
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. Continue to use it as prescribed by your doctor or as stated on the package label.
Interactions
Gynazole-1 may interact with medications such as:
- Antibiotics
- Corticosteroids such as:
- Prednisone
- Drugs that suppress the immune system such as:
- Cyclosporine
- or Methotrexate
Side Effects
There are no side effects known aside from a possible allergic reaction in people who have previous or unknown hypersensitivity to the drug.
Watch out for signs of allergic reactions such as:
- Rash
- Itching
- Swelling
Warnings
Before taking this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have the following:
- Allergy to Butoconazole or to other azole antifungal agents such as:
- Clotrimazole
- or Fluconazole
- Diabetes
- Immune system problems such as:
- HIV-AIDs
- Frequent vaginal yeast infections (more than 4 per year)
- Pregnancy or lactation
