1 What is Isuprel?

IsuprelĀ is a drug used to treat heart block and Adams-Stokes attacks (heart). It is also used in cardiac (heart) arrest and in treating shock and congestive heart failure as well as bronchospasm occurring during anesthesia. This drug is available as an injection solution containing isoproterenol hydrochloride 0.2 milligram in 1 milliliter.

Isuprel may interact with medications such as:

  • Beta-blockers such as:
  • Tricyclic antidepressants such as:
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) such as:
    • Isocarboxazid
    • Phenelzine
    • or Tranylcypromine
  • Inhaled bronchodilators
  • Caffeine, diet pills, or decongestants

Side Effects:

There are no side effects known aside from a possible allergic reaction in people who have previous or unknown hypersensitivity to the drug.

Watch out for signs of allergic reactions such as:

  • Rash
  • Itching
  • Swelling
