Kao-Tin Suspension is a drug used in the relief of diarrhea, upset stomach, heartburn, acid indigestion, and nausea. This drug is available as an oral suspension.

Interactions:

Kao-Tin Suspension may interact with medications such as:

  • Valproic acid
  • Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors such as:
    • Acetazolamide
  • Methotrexate
  • Other drugs that can cause bleeding or bruising such as:
    • Aspirin
    • Antiplatelet drugs such as:
      • Clopidogrel
      • NSAIDs such as:
        • Ibuprofen
        • Salicylates such as:
          • Salsalate
          • or Choline salicylate and
          • Blood thinners such as:
            • Warfarin.

Side Effects:

There are no side effects known aside from a possible allergic reaction in people who have previous or unknown hypersensitivity to the drug.

Watch out for signs of allergic reactions such as:

  • Rash
  • Itching
  • Swelling

Warnings:

Before taking this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have the following:

  • Allergy to bismuth subsalicylate
  • Allergy to aspirin or to salicylates such as:
    • Salsalate
    • or to NSAIDs such as:
  • Bleeding problems
  • Bloody or black, tarry stools
  • Pregnancy or lactation
