Triple Antibiotic

Triple antibiotic is used in treating several types of infection, including skin infections. This medicine is available without a doctor’s prescription.

Pregnancy: Use of neomycin, polymyxin B, and bacitracin is not recommended during pregnancy as studies show possible risk to developing fetus.

Breastfeeding: While there are no specific studies done in lactating women to determine the risk of using this drug to the breastfeeding infant, you may weigh the potential benefits against the risks before using this drug.

Drug Interactions: Certain medicines have adverse effects when used together. Nevertheless, it is still possible to take other medicines when taking this drug. Make sure to inform your doctor about other drugs you are taking, so that alterations and precautions will be made if necessary.

To use Triple antibiotic properly, you must follow all instructions given by your doctor. Do not use Triple antibiotic in treating deep, punctured wounds, raw areas of the skin, and serious burns without your doctor’s advice.

Do not apply in the eyes. Wash your hands thoroughly before applying for this medicine. Wash the affected areas using soap and water. Dry thoroughly with clean cloth or towel.

Apply generously and rub in gently until absorbed by the skin. You may cover the affected area with clean gauze after applying for the medicine. For minor skin infections, apply 2-5 times a day for 7-10 days.

Missed dose: Apply the missed dose as soon as possible. In case it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and follow your regular dosing schedule.

Storage: Keep the medicine in an airtight container at normal room temperature. Keep it away from direct light, heat, and moisture. Do not let it freeze. Keep the medicine out of children’s reach. Throw away any outdated medicine or medicine that are not in use.

In using Triple antibiotic, you must be careful and take some precautions as advised by your doctor. Consult your doctor if your symptoms persist or get worse after 7 days of treatment.
