#MeToo. Men Share Their Stories of Persevering Through Sexual Assault

"I can see myself better, and that why I survive. I’m stronger, I’m wiser, my days are looking brighter. I’m ready for life.”

After offering to help a fellow teacher move into their new home, *Patrick's life was changed forever. He and his colleague were ambushed and sexually assaulted by a sadist with a gun and pole, an attack that nearly killed Patrick. He spent weeks getting surgeries and endured months of painful recovery—and this was for just his physical injuries. The emotional pain, however, would last much longer. Years after the assault, Patrick continued to struggle with the torment of that day, suffering with inner battles, the loss of trust and intimacy, and the trauma and grief.

Having grown up in a large, close family with ties to gospel music and a strong relationship with God, Patrick’s faith and spirituality would grant him the ability to mend his wounded soul. He found peace and healing through music, and is passionate about giving back to others. He is working on his second book and CD, and has launched a mentorship program in his community.
