When *Robert was a young child, he was raped. Instead of breaking his spirit and losing faith in others, he found himself open and vulnerable. Being empathetic is a beautiful gift, but it does need to be managed- you must breathe in their pain, and remember to also breathe it back out.

A veteran teacher in Oakland public schools, Robert recently traveled to Africa, where the struggles of his ancestors resonated with him. He is looking toward the future with optimism and hope, and is wondering what may be in store for him next.
