Real Stories of Teen Suicide that Will Make You Think

Hailee Lamberth was bullied because of her condition: Epilepsy

13-year-old Hailee Lamberth committed suicide after being bullied for suffering from epilepsy.

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that causes seizures characterized by sudden symptoms including altered senses, dizziness, twitching, uncontrolled movements, unresponsiveness, confusion, falling, fainting, shaking, stiffness, or the loss of bladder or bowel control.

Hailee was mocked and teased by her classmates because of her medical condition. She routinely found cruel notes in her locker with messages like, “Drink bleach and die” and “Why don’t you die?” One classmate left her a voicemail message stating, “Where are you, Hailee? I hope you died.”

In December, 2013, Hailee tragically took her own life by shooting herself in the head. She was just 13 years old. In her suicide note, she wrote, “I only ask that you tell my school I killed myself so maybe next time people like [name omitted] wants to call someone [phrase omitted], he won’t.”
