Real Stories of Teen Suicide that Will Make You Think

Kenneth Weishuhn was bullied after coming out as gay.

High-school freshman Kenneth Weishuhn committed suicide after being bullied for coming out as gay.

After coming out, Kenneth was bullied both in school and online. He even received death threats by phone. Some of Kenneth’s classmates created a homophobic, anti-gay Facebook group.

According to Kenneth’s sister, Kayla, the bullying began after Kenneth was betrayed by some of his most trusted friends. His friends turned on him, and either joined in the abuse, or were too afraid to stand up for him.

Kenneth’s mother, Jeannie Chambers, knew her son was being harassed by his peers. He told her, “Mom, you don’t know how it feels to be hated.”
