He's Lying Next To You...The Difference Between Psychopaths, Sociopaths, and Narcissists

Only 40% of all serial killers are psychopaths

Most of us wouldn’t hesitate to call a brutal serial killer a psychopath, but only 40 percent of serial killers match the technical definition of psychopathy.

It might sound hard to believe, but most serial killers aren’t legally insane. To be considered legally insane, a killer must not understand that his actions constitute murder. Most serial killers are not legally insane because they know exactly what they’re doing. They know they’re committing murder and breaking the law, but they don’t care. They are psychopaths, so they completely disregard the laws and moral codes that govern society. They understand that murder is illegal and immoral, but they do it anyway.

However, not all serial killers are psychopaths. Some serial killers do feel a certain degree of remorse. They might even want to be caught. They feel guilty about their actions but believe they can’t control themselves.
