Do Nurses Know How to Do Rape Exams?

This patient's experience was "intrusive" and "cold"

In 2016, Paula Foster* said her emergency room rape exam was awful. It also hurt. The nurse scraped and swabbed her body for evidence in the area where the violation took place, only hours before, and did not know why or how it helped.. “It was so intrusive and so, so cold,” Foster, 24, said. She is now a speaker for the  Rape Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN).

Foster felt that she doubted anything would happen with her case. She was scared and felt that the police and the nurse did not believe her.
