Overall Faculty Shortage
From the previously mentioned points, we are clear that nursing programs are offering a quality nursing education. In order to deliver the quality education, a quality faculty is required, which is found to be lacking all over the country. As per the “American Association of Colleges of Nursing”, there are several reasons for the overall nursing faculty shortage in the country. The major reason is that the private sector organizations are paying the nursing staff more than the educational sectors. This scenario lures the current as well as potential nursing educators away from the teaching profession. A shortage of the nursing faculty would mean that the teacher - student ratio is higher. In order to balance this ratio, nursing schools are limiting the number of students they accept into the programs.
