8. Emphasize consistency
This ties into the previous steps, but is a little bit different. Be consistent in what you say you will do, both for yourself and for your child. Failing to follow through with what you say can be disruptive to your child's relationship with you. Communicate with your partner, your child's teachers, and their doctors to ensure consistency even when you are not around. Doing this will build a solid foundation that helps foster growth, communication, and respect.
