Going out, all put-together? Yeah, right.
Whatever social life you may have had previously, the birth of a child whisks that away. You may still be a night owl, but not for the fun reasons you once had. Infants require constant supervision; they are completely dependent on their parents. This means your time is no longer your own, which can be especially hard for new mothers to accept. Most can’t find the time even to put on makeup, let alone go out for an evening of dinner and drinks or some other activity. Impulse brunches with friends become a thing of the past as everything must fit into a tightly kept schedule. Moreover, any down time you have as a mother is often spent resting in an attempt to recover from your child-induced exhaustion. This can cause feelings of resentment in one’s relationship if left unchecked.
