Sleeping at all becomes a myth

As mentioned at the beginning of this slideshow, sleep is probably the most significant loss a new mom will experience after her child is born. During infancy, a newborn will keep you up at all hours of the night crying to be fed, to have their diaper changed, or any other reason which you as the parent have to figure out. One mom, Kay, admitted, “I’m lucky to get four hours of sleep at a time since the baby was born,” highlighting the all too real struggles of sleep deprivation common to motherhood.

Moreover, if the baby isn’t keeping the mother up, they themselves are: constantly worrying about their child or doubting their abilities as a parent, all these fears and more take away from a mom’s much-needed rest period. Parents can expect an entire year of sleep deprivation after their baby is born, grim though the prospect may be.
