Autism: Parents Need Help Managing Emotions, Too

It’s been noted there are few resources focused on parents of children with autism; this includes little support to help parents learn parenting skills.

Dr. James Cusack from Autistica said, “Parents commonly tell us that they fight for a[n autism] diagnosis, but when they finally get it, the cupboard is bare, with little information or tailored support available to them.”

Participating in cognitive behavioral therapy or mindful parenting can improve the parent-child relationship as well as give parents needed skills for the ups and downs of daily parenting.
