Medications for Children with Autism

Medications

Children with autism are also more likely to be on one or multiple medications as opposed to children who don’t have autism. These medications often do a lot of good for children and help manage their symptoms in a productive manner. But, some medications may also alter a child’s appetite and metabolism. From increasing cravings of unhealthy food choices to just slowing down a child’s metabolism and therefore making it more difficult for the child to process nutrients, medications can have a host of side-effects, and in turn play a big role in a child’s health.
