Helping Children to Understand Grandpa's Alzheimer's

Finding an adult when grandpa relapses

If grandpa is living with the family, instead of a nursing home, explain to the children that, while he is not responsible for his behavior when the relapse happens, they must deal with the abusive behavior under any circumstances. If he is flying into a rage and there are children in the room, instruct them to leave the area immediately and seek adult help, instead of trying to calm grandpa themselves.
