How Video Games Advocate: Growing up with autism

Growing up with autism

Samuel has autism spectrum disorder. Throughout his childhood, Samuel was constantly bullied for his odd behavior. When he was 13, he was able to get his first exposure to psychiatric help for depression. With treatment, he realized that there was more to his different behaviors than just depression alone. He was finally diagnosed with autism at the age of 16.

Kids with autism can sometimes feel misunderstood. They notice that they’re different from other kids, and sometimes it’s hard for them to make friends or feel loved. That’s how Samuel felt. The diagnosis finally helped him understand why he had struggled to feel accepted all his life.
