How to Feed a Child Athlete with Celiac Disease

Other foods

Other foods

It can be stressful to determine what types of foods to feed the little athlete who has celiac disease. A few good ideas include hotdog/turkey hot dogs, cheeseburgers (without the bun), baked potatoes with all the toppings (including broccoli) and maybe an omelet.

Beef Stew

Beef Stew made in a crockpot will save your time and provide a healthy meal for anyone with, and without, celiac disease.

  • ¾ cup chicken broth, low-sodium, gluten-free
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 pound potatoes
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 yellow onion
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce gluten-free
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 beef roast
  • Gloves of garlic mashed into a paste

Cut up the beef roast, brown, and toss into the crockpot along with the other ingredients. Turn on low first thing in the morning and let it cook all day. This stew will be excellent, healthy, and comfortable.
