Traveling with Young Children with Autism

Timing during transit

Everyone, regardless of age or disability status, is crankier when they are tired. This is especially true for children. So, for the best chance of an enjoyable trip, book flights for the morning, after a child’s normal wakeup time. If you plan your travel around their normal schedule, they are less likely to be tired, and thus less likely to have a meltdown while in transit.
