Jeste specifically mentions dup15q syndrome which is caused by an extra copy of a piece of DNA on chromosome 15. Dup15q syndrome results in intellectual disability, seizures, and autism. For a child who has this syndrome, he or she is going to wake up in the middle of the night with seizures, and therefore the seizures are what need to be treated. This differs from a child with fragile X syndrome who may have difficulty falling asleep due to anxiety.
