Pediatrician Questions Feeding baby

6 month old not getting enough ounces

I am a first time mom and super nervous. My 6 month recently started not wanting the bottle. I am fighting with her to give her a couple ounces at a time and can get 20 oz in per day but it is a struggle. She loves food and is eating oatmeal and 2 jars of food a day, mixed with 2 ounces of formula. She is not acting sick, she's very happy and is growing. My pediatrician said she needs at least 24 ounces per day, but my baby seems so uninterested by the bottle. The doctor said she is getting her nutrients primarily from formula so I am worried she is not getting enough. What can I do to ensure she is not being malnourished? I have tried giving her the bottle at all different times: before food, in between...and she is just not into it. Advice greatly appreciated.

Did you add the 2 oz of formula mixed with the baby food 2 times a day if not that would make 24 oz. If she is gaining well, this should be enough. If not, you have to cut back on the baby food to once a day so she will take another 6 oz bottle.
As long as the baby is eating other food mixed with formula and is healthy, you should not worry; at six months, you can offer fluids by a baby cup also with rounded edges. Yogurt is a good substitute for calcium-rich food. Make the feeding time pleasant and enjoyable; do not force baby to take a bottle.
Gee, it doesn't sound to me like anything to worry about. I am assuming your baby is growing and gaining weight as she should. When babies begin taking solid foods, they frequently cut back on their formula. This can be a good thing, as we don't want them to get too fat!

Keep in mind, we were all nervous when we were first time parents. If your baby is happy, I think you are doing most things right.
