Abdominal and Pelvic CT scan with contrast?

I am going to go through the IVF process in a few months. I already have one son from IVF and we really want to give him a biological sibling. I may have a low ovarian reserve already. When I was 31, (before my son was born) I had to have an abdominal and pelvic CT done with contrast, as well as a barium study for suspected intussusception. Last week I had a hysteroscopy to remove uterine adhesions and I was having terrible right-sided pain so I headed to the Emergency Dept. In the end, the ultrasound and bloodwork were showing nothing and I was given heavy pain medication. I was still having pain after the pain medication so the dr ordered an abdominal and pelvic CT scan (it was a 4D spiral scanner which I think produces higher amounts of radiation) with IV contrast to rule out appendicitis. I explained my radiation concern to my ovaries to the Dr and he assured me that the dose is so low that it won’t affect my egg quality. So I proceeded with the CT scan. Upon arriving home I have been reading opposing articles saying that any radiation to the female ovaries can cause damage. Additionally, I’ve had perimenopause symptoms since the scan which my family thinks is anxiety related. Is it possible that the CT scan with contrast caused me to go into early menopause? Please help! I’m going out of my mind with worry.

You should definitely be checked by preferably a fertility specialist and gave an Antral follicle count and AMH. If you are peri menopausal the radiation may exposure may not have influenced things.. Sounds like you should consider another retrieval
