Family Medicine Questions Endocrinology-Diabetes

Am I pre-diabetic?

My morning blood sugar is always 103-106. I was told I was pre-diabetic but I am in denial.

Dear patient,

Based upon the classification of normal sugar 70 to 99, pre-diabetes fasting sugar 100 to 125, diabetes fasting sugar 126 or higher you are pre diabetic. I don't know your body mass index, family history or meds for MS. These should be reviewed. Pre-diabetes should be treated with weight loss as needed and sometimes meds. Special attention to blood pressure and lipids should be paid. Many diabetic complications occur during this.

Yes, that is consistent with Prediabetes. Sometimes also referred to as impaired fasting glucose.

I have little information Weight? Family history? However, by definition, you are pre-diabetic.
Given the information you gave me, yes, you appear to have pre diabetes. Normal fasting glucose should be 99 or less. Hope this answers your question.
