I was diagnosed with gallstones. Are gallstones an emergency?

Only if they are blocking the duct and causing pain/inflammation. Otherwise the gallstones are just sitting in the gallbladder not doing much of anything.
No, unless they cause cholecystitis or pancreatitis.
