There are many causes for bloody stools. Common benign causes are hemorrhoids, anal fissure. More serious reasons include polyps, diverticulosis, ischemia, ulcers, tumors. You should get evaluated by a physician especially if the bleeding persists and/or is causing anemia.
Blood in the stool could be a very serious problem, or a not too serious problem. Either way, it is serious enough that it should be checked out. If it persists, you could lose a lot of blood. Please call and see your local doctor.
