OB-GYN (Obstetrician-Gynecologist) Questions Breast tissue

Breast tissue

Hi, I learned from a doctor that breast tissue is removed and sent to a pathology lab to examine the history of the stages of cancer. Since the patient now has no breast tissue from the mastectomy, what happens to the tissue after the patient is dead or cancer free? Does the tissue get thrown out?

Generally tissue is stored for a certain period of time and then it gets destroyed
The tissue would go to the pathology lab & examined. That would include lymph nodes. Tha would determine the stage. There might be some tissue remaining in the lab to do other test if needed. I have seen that.
