Can 15 year old burn marks be removed with plastic surgery?

I am currently 34 years old. I had an accident 15 years back that caused burn marks on my hand. While the wound was treated, the scars have remained and I can't look at them any more. Can I get a plastic surgery now to get rid of these marks?

Burn scars can be very disfiguring and this can cause anxiety and depression. These can sometimes be corrected or improved with additional treatments such as scar excisions and skin grafts. It is best that you consult with a burn specialist surgeon (a burn center) for a full evaluation and to be sure you are getting the best advice for treatment.
The short answer is Yes. Consult your plastic surgeon for details regarding your particular situation.
There is a myth out there that plastic surgery can erase scars. I wish it were so.
Certainly scars can often be improved, function restored and comfort increased, but totally removing scars is for science fiction or the fairly distant future.
If your scars are 15 years old they are likely to be soft and to have regained some of their natural color. I would advise caution regarding any radical form of treatment but please do yourself the favor of having a consultation with a board certified Plastic Surgeon. Someone who can give you “hands-on” advice after assessing your situation.
Good luck.
Yes, 15-year-old burn wounds can be improved, removed, or made to be less unsightly. Silage, silicone sheets, and plastic surgery procedures can make a difference.
Hello, thank you for your question. You should be able to get an aesthetically and, if needed, functionally improved scar. Several ways like microneedling or platelet-rich plasma to various skin flaps may be considered for your treatment. You should consult a physician certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

It may be possible that you can get rid of the marks caused by burns on your hand. I highly suggest that you seek consultation from a board certified (by the American Board of Plastic Surgery) surgeon. Through a consultation in person and seeing it, the surgeon can let you know what may be possible for you.
Unfortunately not, but they can generally be improved.
The scars can be minimized with plastic surgery. The amount will depend on your individual case. I suggest you have a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for a full appraisal.
