Understanding why your ankle is swollen could determine if more exercise will hurt it further. A swollen ankle due to fluid build up is different from swelling due to injury. Without knowing your “why is the ankle swollen” I cannot offer advice; seek a professional who can evaluate and ask the right questions.
Swelling of the ankle can be caused by many things, including heart trouble, circulation issues, arthritis, and tendon tears, just to name a few. I would recommend following up with your Primary Care physician before engaging in any further exercise.
No. Get to your Gonstead chiropractor and have it evaluated.
Hello,
If your ankle is swollen maybe you shouldn't exercise until you get it checked out by a doctor.
In general, if your ankle is swollen *but not painful*, it may indicate underlying inflammation, fluid buildup, or minor instability even without pain. While some mild movement can be helpful, *exercising on a swollen ankle without knowing the cause could lead to further injury*. Heres what I recommend: * *Avoid high-impact activity* (running, jumping, lateral movements) until the swelling resolves. * *Opt for low-impact options* like swimming, cycling, or upper-body strength training to stay active. * *Monitor for changes*: If swelling worsens, or if pain, bruising, or stiffness develops, stop activity and get evaluated. * *Consider evaluation*: Swelling without trauma could be due to overuse, vascular issues, or joint dysfunction, which we can assess through chiropractic and orthopedic testing. Bottom line: Its best to get a proper evaluation before continuing with your regular workouts. Your body is signaling something even if it doesnt hurt yet.
As long as there is no pain
As long as there is no pain and no recent trauma to your foot or ankle, then you should be able to exercise.
Hello, a swollen ankle is teling youthat somthing is not right. I would get that chewcked out before exercising on it. We can injure our body and not have pain. Please see yoiur medical professional and have it checked out before vigorous exercise.
