Yes, adult speech stuttering can often be improved with therapy. While it may not "go away" completely for everyone, speech therapy can help individuals develop techniques to manage stuttering, improve fluency, and build confidence in communication.
At The Beacon Clinic LLC in Baltimore, we offer speech therapy for adults with stuttering, using evidence-based approaches to help manage and reduce the impact of stuttering in daily life.
If your friend is interested, feel free to contact us for an evaluation or more information.

It can definitely be improved. Usually if it is of long standing it doesnt go away but it can be managed. I would encourage your friend to seek therapy.
Stuttering is not curable at this time, but strategies and techniques are very effective at reducing and sometimes eliminating overt stuttering events. Direct speech therapy is recommended.
There are many forms of intervention that are helpful for people who stutter. I like to refer individuals to the stuttering foundation, as they provide a lot of great articles and support groups. Stuttering intervention is not a "one shoe fits all" but rather very individualized to every person who stutters.
