Can contact lenses cause eye infections?

I am an 18 year old male. I wonder if contact lenses can cause eye infections?

Lenses themselves do not cause infections. Their use demands care and if careless with handling, disinfecting and overuse the exposure to possible infection is increased. With proper care infections are a rare occurrence and when present with prompt and appropriate treatment resolution of the infection is usually prompt and simple
If not worn or cleaned properly, contact lenses can cause infections.
Yes, they can! Remember that a contact lens is made up of a good percentage of water. It stays hydrated by being in solution and therefore, it is always recommended to use a disinfecting solution for storage. If a lens was not put in disinfection solution or exposed to water that wasn't sterilized (i.e., tap water or pond water for example), then the lens could absorb the bacteria and other germs in the water, which could lead to an infection.
It can , but you need to take good care of your eyes
