“Can hemorrhoids cause internal injury?”
I'm currently using topical treatment for hemorrhoids but ever since I started (3 weeks ago) I've been experiencing a sharp pain around an hour after I apply the medication. Could something be wrong? Otherwise, the medication seems to be working.

You might have a fissure which can be painful. Consult a colon and rectal surgeon.
Hemorrhoid creams do not work long term and in some cases cause harm. You should be evaluated by a colon and rectal surgeon in the office.
