Can medication help with health anxiety?

I experienced the loss of my mother in a long and gruesome battle to cancer. I have since then suffered severe health anxiety. Every other day it is something else...a headache is a tumor that sends me to the ER. A swollen lymph node makes me freak out. I now have a 2 year old son and am starting to freak out any time I see anything out of the normal. i feel unequipped to handle every day life, and this fear is robbing my joy. I have never taken any medication and don't want to be a zombie. Are there any medications that could help me from constantly going down the rabbit hole? I don't want to waste my whole life living in fear.

Psychotherapy can help the best. There is medication and everyone deals differently from medication. If you want medication you need to go see a nurse practitioner or psychiatrist. They will direct you on that.
Consider natural supplements like GABA. See the link to BrainMD - DR. Amen's site for natural supplements. Take his Brain Type assessment and explore his recommendations. See a psychologist to help you learn good tools, tactics, and techniques to reduce stress.
