Chiropractor Questions Insomnia

Can my son's sleep patterns improve with chiropractic care?

My son's been having issues sleeping lately. It's almost like insomnia, actually. He would go to sleep at really late times, and have trouble sleeping at that, but take naps during the day. My friend said I should actually take him to chiropractor since her daughter was having issues with sleep and it worked for her (however, hers had more to do with aches and pains). Can chiropractic care help him?

Chiropractic care can help with sleep if it due to physical pain. I would recommend trying chiropractic care and melatonin for a few weeks. If you do not see improvement I would look into it further with a medical doctor or child psychologist.
If you can find a chiropractor that focuses on neurology, then yes. Sleep issues are very common with brain imbalances and chiropractors that understand that connection will typically get great results with sleep. Search functional neurology or brain based wellness chiropractor.
Yes.
Absolutely! Call to schedule his appointment. Thanks!
Absolutely! Chiropractic care can affect nervous system of the body and affects positively
Hi,

Absolutely! Chiropractic care and also Cranio sacral therapy are two treatments that when both are combined together works wonders on insomnia and sleep issues. I, myself use both in this type of cases in my practice as well as diet/ exercises/ supplements and have amazing results. Chiropractic care targets stabilization of the nervous system using specific types of adjustments and or muscle work to stimulate the nervous system in a way that the appropriate hormones will be released.

First, your chiropractor will figure out the exact cause of the insomnia and talk to you about what to do to help. Complementary to chiropractic treatment and Cranio sacral therapy, your
health care provider can talk to you about some home care/exercises/relaxation and also importantly diet changes or supplements your child could take to help.

Again, it’s extremely important to figure out the cause of the insomnia to be able to treat it effectively. We are all unique individuals and what works for one person would not work for everybody. Find a chiropractor who also has knowledge in nutrition/functional medicine/Cranio sacral therapy if possible and I’m sure they will be able to help your child with the sleeping issues.

Hope this helps and your child will start having peaceful nights of sleep and sweet dreams.

It may help by improving the central nervous system. It would be pertinent to have him checked for any issues of the spine that may be impeding proper function.
It is possible for Chiropractic to help your son's sleep as it does for many patients. What it sounds like to me, in what you've described, are symptoms of Hypothyroidism. My recommendation would be to get some blood work done and see if his thyroid gland is functioning adequately, and rule out other nutritional or chemical causes. If that is clear, then I would consider Chiropractic.
Yes, I would have him checked
Yes, it is very possible. Over 36 years of practice, I've treated a lot of patients that had difficulty sleeping. Some due to pain and others from unknown reasons, but they all commented on how much better they slept and increased energy levels. You should see some positive results in the first 3-5 weeks of care.
Hello,

It may help him. Without a full consultation and evaluation, it is hard to say 100%. There are different functional tests that can be performed to better treat your son, ie., nutritional, neurotransmitter fungal, etc.

Sincerely,

I’m not sure. Because the adjustment (the main treatment a chiropractor uses) can influence the receptors around the joint, there is a possibility that the adjustment could “calm down” the central nervous system so that he can sleep at night. Since he naps during the day he needs to break that habit or his sleep/wake cycle will be altered. A chiropractor will also look at his diet and overall daily routine to see if there is anything overstimulate good his mind and body late at night. Acupuncture might be helpful as well if he is not afraid of needles.
It is certainly possible that by balancing your son's nervous system with chiropractic care, your son's sleep can be improved. He should try going to bed earlier and be aware of what he eats close to bedtime and other factors as well will influence his sleep pattern.
Yes! Chiropractic care could help. Also, depending on age of child, may need to run some labs or try some supplements to help him.
