Can partial dentures cause gum damage?

I wear partials and have gum pain. Can partial dentures cause gum damage?

Yes partial dentures CAN cause gum damage if the fit is not good and exact!
It can cause sore spots and at that time your dentist MUST adjust your partial dentures!

No, if you keep your partials clean & don’t wear them while sleeping .but if you don’t give rest to your tissues/mouth.. & wear partials 24/7 ,then it can damage your gums .
If the partial dentures no longer fit properly they can cause gum pain. You may only have a sore spot that can be corrected by an adjustment of the acrylic that simulates the gum tissue or it could be that a clasp on a tooth is loose and allows the partial to move and rub on the gums instead of holding it firmly in position.
