Can thyroid surgery be done with local anesthesia?

I will have thyroid surgery. Can thyroid surgery be done with local anesthesia?

It depends on Surgeon and Anesthesiologist.Many times its done under General Anesthesia
No one would recommend that approach. It is delicate surgery and the patient needs to be completely still. But there are different approaches that may work well for them.
Theoretically yes, but I would not recommend it, as it may get painful during the operation.
The standard of care for thyroidectomy is a GETA, general endotracheal anesthesia.
