I'm assuming you're not referring to local anesthesia? Are you referring to sedation or to undergo general anesthesia? Any of these may be administered with the proper facility and qualified providers. Cost may be prohibitive and with higher risks for sedation.
You can get dental anesthesia, but depending on the condition of your decay, you may not need anesthesia, and also depending on your health condition, it is not always necessary you get dental anesthesia. In my practice, I don’t usually give anesthesia on small fillings since it doesn’t give you pain with my technique. I don’t like to use medication unnecessary to every patients. I try to avoid using too much medication on every patient as much as possible.
Yes you can.

Sure. Dental anesthesia could mean an injection of Novocain; that is usually what we do. Maybe you are talking about general anesthesia where you are unconscious? Yes, that can be done, but it is expensive and there is some risk associated; you must be screened to make sure you are a candidate. Usually, as much dental treatment needed is done at once - you are not going to get general anesthesia five separate times if you need five fillings. There is also anesthesia where you are not completely unconscious, but sedated, called “twilight sleep” available.
All dentists can help you with local anesthesia. If you are talking about general anesthesia you can but there is an expense to it and always a risk. Talk to your dentist about your options.

Dear Reader,

You can absolutely have dental anesthesia when getting your tooth filled. I'm talking about local anesthesia, commonly referred to as getting "Novocaine" (although we use other brands and formulations now). In addition, some people elect to have nitrous oxide ("gas") in addition to the local anesthetic. Finally, there are those dentists who can provide you with oral and/or i.v. sedation where you moderately sedated and "wake up" having the procedure/filling completed.  Dentistry has come so far and while not fun, can be comfortable. If you need your tooth filled, I would contact your dentist, or find one, and have a consultation with them to find out how they can best treat you.

Hope this helps,

Yes. If you’re nervous you can have any type of sedation to make you comfortable. You may have an extra fee but it’s well worth it to avoid worsening dental health.
