Can you get gum disease with dentures?

I am a 69 year old male. I want to know can you get gum disease with dentures?

Classical gum disease, or periodontal disease, isn't possible when teeth aren't present. The only soft tissue diseases that can be present with dentures would be non-periodontal in nature, like a fungal infection or other, non-periodontal disease.
Yes, it is possible if the denture does not fit properly. This is why it is still recommended to see your dentist at least yearly.

The short answer is no, not in the sense you are thinking anyway. You can, however, get a variety of fungal infections, benign soft tissue growths and more serious soft tissue growths. We recommend our complete denture patients be seen every 6 months to have the fit of their dentures checked. We also look at all the tissue at that time.
