Can you have dental implants with bone loss?

I have a missing tooth with bone loss. Can you have dental implants with bone loss?

In most cases, you can. A bone graft may be needed prior to the placement of the implant if bone loss is severe. In some cases, the graft can be done at the time of placement. In a case like this, I would recommend seeing an oral surgeon or a periodontist for treatment.

Yes, as long as you have enough bone left. You need about 7 millimeters, but surgeons can add bone grafts to build up the bone when necessary. Get a consultation and they will tell you if you are a good candidate.
Most times, a bone graft can be done to give you the adequate amount of bone for a dental implant. Check with your American Dental Association surgeon who is placing the implant.

Maybe. If there is significant bone loss, you may have to have bone grafting and see how well that heals prior to discussing the option of an implant.
