Chickenpox vaccine?

My daughter has not had the chickenpox virus or the vaccine. She has been in close contact with someone that has the virus (3 days ago). Is it worth getting her vaccinated against the virus now before symptoms appear? Would it make a difference? Would it make symptoms worse if she has contacted the virus and also has the vaccine?

The answer is : yes, give her the vaccine as soon as possible.

1 vaccine can be given within 30 5 days of exposure for the age-appropriate group, 1 yr and up. Thus your child should not get the Varicella vaccine at this point. Lease watch closely for the symptoms. If illness occurs a child can be eligible for antiviral medication.
