Internist Questions cloudy urine

Cloudy urine with strong odor- What could it be?

I am 4 months pregnant and have noticed in the last week that my urine is extremely cloudy every time I urinate. It also has a strong odor of ammonia or a chemical smell. What could this be, is this related to me being pregnant or a sign of something else more serious?

You urine should be checked, for infection as infection should be treated even if your a symptomatic.
Please go to a medical provider ASAP. Urine tract infections are very common in pregnancy and left unaddressed can also affect the health of your fetus.
Smell of urine is not that significant. Urine excretes what you have consumed. If it is too strong and you do not urinate 3 to 4 times a day, you need to drink more water.
See your Ob doctor be sure no infection
It can be a urinary tract infection. You should definitely see you GYN and do a urine culture. UTI in pregnancies must be treated even if you have no symptoms.
Possible urinary tract infection.
Needs urine dipstick and ironed analysis and culture.
Make sure you talk to your gynecologist to make sure there is no infection.
You may just need better hydration or increased hydration, and ask your Ob-GYN M.D. to have a urinalysis to rule out infection.

The ammonia odor would suggest a urinary tract infection.
