Diabetic Toe

My mom is 49 years old, she has diabetes, high blood pressure and thyroid. 3 years ago she got hurt on her big toe and there were worms inside the nail. The doctor advised we take the nail out. And it took a while for her to recover. She got hurt again 2 days ago and there's pus inside the nail. What can be done in this situation?

If there is pus present at the big to she will mostly need a prescription for some oral antibiotic medication to resolve the infection. Your mom should seek professional evaluation and treatment of her current foot condition. Therefore, the infection will not go away without taking some antibiotic medication. Those worms at the big toe were possible maggots that can happen in a wound-open sore if a fly's lava lay there eggs into the open sore.
I would see a podiatrist for further evaluation, especially considering she is diabetic and explain that there is pus.
This needs immediate doctor or ER visit, x-rays, antibiotics and prayers.
The presence of “ pus” indicates there’s an ongoing infection. I would recommend she sees a podiatrist to possibly get started on oral antibiotics.
Proceed to a podiatrist as soon as possible. The nail will need to be removed and placed on antibiotics and topical wound care.
Well unfortunately your mothers Diabetes dictates immediate medical care. With pus already evident she needs to be seen by a Podiatric Surgeon who is Board Certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery ASAP. If she is running a fever and/or her blood sugar is abnormally elevated she needs to be taken to an Emergency Room ASAP.
First and foremost, you need to get rid of the infection. It may require a culture and intiation of antibiotics. Xrays can also be important as the infection could be in the bone. Thanks for the question if we can be of assistance let us know unfortunately the office is closed until Monday, and this may require more immediate attention.
The only answer to your question is that if your mother has a reoccurrence of infection there is no treatment appropriate without seeing either her primary care doctor or a podiatric surgeon. Not be a responsible physician if I gave any answers because it is absolutely necessary to seek professional sites for advice.
You must visit a podiatrist or wound care specialist immediately. She has an infection/abscess and must be on antibiotics. Should could suffer sn amputation of the toe, or worse. This could also result in sepsis and a medical emergency.
I recommend you make an appointment with a foot and ankle specialist (Podiatrist) for evaluation and treatment options.
